Episode 107

Sigh- As I mentioned on my site, this episode marked the beginning of a bit of a decline on the site- Pictures were scanned, but lack of time meant that they didn't go online for a long time. Unfortunately, I don't have a TON of story to go along with the scans, but on the other hand, it seems that 2003 was the Year of the Boring-Ass Manji in Prison Plotline, anyway, so it probably doesn't matter.

. .

Rin and Hyakurin chatting for a bit, Hyakurin notes that her arm is getting better recently. They decide to try to put things together with the whole Mugai-ryu thing by going out and hunting for Giichi.

Meanshile, back in the dungeon, Brand (Burando) and Mozen continue their studies on Dewanosuke. For 10 days or so, Mozen gets to work on Manji, and if he can't get it to work, then it's Brand's turn.

.

Brand's bored because there's not a lot of pregress, and he thinks he's hot stuff as well. He really wants to get his hands on Manji, but Mozen is the elder, so he has to sit back and watch for now.

.

Mozen mixes some Chinese chemicals and Manji's blood together, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

.

Dewanosuke shares his story with Manji- Basically, he has a wife (and IIRC, a kid), and he headed into Edo off and on to pick pockets to make ends meet. In other words, he's a nice guy overall, in a pinch, and just happened to be caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.

.

Mozen comes back the next day, ready to try new methods, but they're still not working correctly.

.

Brand is getting tired of all this, and keeps butting in. He tells Mozen that he's going to fail, because he hasn't ever done live dissections, etc. The closest Mozen has done is - get this - not people, but pigs. "They're pretty similar!" When Brand objects, suggesting that he should step in for the actual dissection, Mozen flips out on him, yelling at him to back off.

Brand's got delusions of grandeur, though. But on top of that, he's also hoping to do the dissection because if Mozen meeses up and accidentally kills Manji, it's Game Over for both of them. Not good.

Episode: Long, plenty of story and drama. Unfortunately, it continues the relatively uninteresting Prison Experimentation storyline. So...

Three out of Five Rins!
