Episode 116

Sorry, no huge version of the title pic this month.
Well, we get some Giichi-Hyakurin, and a little more Habaki-Brand.

First, the expected: Hyakurin totally bitches Giichi out for disappearing off the face of the earth after Mugairyu was disbanded. He's got a headache from all the drinking he's been doing, so Rin goes to get some water for him.

Giichi was thrown in jail, and Habaki had him join Mugairyu some 10+ years ago. Since then, he's been the hunter for the group. And now, no matter how hard he tries, he cannot remember how he used to live before that.
Awww, yeah. Giichi goes Vietnam Vet on us. Afraid to live, washing it all away with booze. That's a pretty cool twist.
Giichi tells them not to get involved with him anymore and turns away. So Hyakurin smashes him on the head with a jug of water. He grabs her roughly, and she bitches him out again, "Ohh, did that wake you up?" Giichi lost a child, but Hyakurin lost two. If Habaki and Giichi hadn't shown up when they did, she would have died with her husband and son.
"You spend all that time by yourself, then disappear without a trace, and you expect me to let you go? Eh, Mr. Shiny?"

heh.
Rin even bitches Giichi out a little, and he looks like he's woken up to her words.

Back in the prison, Habaki is chewing Brand out. Brand is now half-crazy, and Habaki has a long talk with him.
.
Back when Mozen was with them, Mozen commented that he had only dissected sea otters before. Brand is freaking out that this many people are dying because of him (even though they're convicts- he's still a decent doctor at heart, if a little cocky and obsessive). Habaki tells him to think of those people as little more than otters themselves, and that will help him do the needful.

The next time an experimend goes down, though, Brand totally loses it. They're about to cut off another guy's hand, when Brand jumps in the way at the last second, freaking out, telling Habaki how he doesn't want to risk any more lives.
"Don't kill him! He's not an otter!"

Comedy moment: The executioner, a samurai to teh heart, instantly comes up with a Haiku for the situation:
"Sea otter...
A life that is spared...
...the doctor who changes his mind."
"...hmmm. Should I title it 'Sea Otter'"?

Habaki has had enough.
"Brand Ayame! You are hereby sentenced to your crimes against the country. Take him to his cell!"
Giichi's coolness is returning, and the prison stuff is moving on.
