Episode 141

The water rises, and a bizarre man jumps out and attacks everyone:

Uhh... Voldo from the Soul Calibur series?

Anyway, EVERYONE starts fighting with him: Dowa, Manji, Isaku and Rin. It soon becomes clear that this guy has an immortal body as well, so Manji and Isaku are trying to take a majority of his blows, but he's flipping all over the place like a tall, skinny acrobat. Dowa and Manji start getting spanked.

Episode 142

More fighting.

Dowa and Manji team up against Voldo over here, and end up rolling around in the water or getting thrown against walls and ceilings.

Meanwhile, Isaku picks up one of the coolest victories in the comic: He's still attacking the bodyguard (though they did stop for a bit when the crazy guy showed up). The bodyguard ends up stabbing him twice in the chest with his swords: Isaku pulls himself INTO the swords, making them go through him even more, getting closer to him. When Yamada realizes his mistake and tries to back away, Isaku finishes him off with this crushing headbutt from hell that takes him out in one hit.

A little more fighting, and Voldo's mask falls off, revealing... Uh, ok, maybe they can stop for a bit to put that mask back on him. Please.

Episode 143

The last of the successive fighting scenes, hopefully. But they go out with some serious style:

Four on one. This time, EVERYONE's involved. Rin throws her knives, Dowa takes some swings at him, and Manji kicks him back into the bars...

...where Isaku is waiting. He grabs the dudes arms by the biceps, and pulls them so hard through the bars that he rips the dude's arms off. Daaaaaang.

Dowa and Manji get ready for the final combo-attack, and... they let it rip!

Note, this was a two-page spread, so if you pull your browser window far enough horizontally you can see the whole thing.

Awesome. Rock on. Now hopefully we can get OUT OF THE FRIGGIN PRISON, PLEASE? (^.^)

They say a few words, then Manji basically says "Let's get out of here", and hopefully just that will happen.

So, as a review, I've got to say again: Overall, the prison story arc feels like a rut in the story. It's long, pretty boring, and doesn't contain a lot of character development, and very minor "real plot". The characters introduced and the schemes involved made it a little more interesting, but overall when this hits the comics you'll feel the slow pain. Reading it all at once in a graphic novel, though, should make the story fly, though. Anyway, at the end, it looks like we're "almost done" with the prison story, and will hopefully see more story resolution!
