...he died. Magatsu came just in time to see the end of the fight.

"He was a strong guy, but people who lose thier calm at the Moment of Death end up dying".
Magatsu tells Giichi that he hates the kind of thinking like, "You killed my comerade so I'm going to get revenge". In fact, the only thing he thinks is, "Damn, he lost".

"But if there's one thing that I cannot forgive, it's when the killer is a lapdog of the government...
SOMEONE LIKE YOU."

The two of them gear up for a fight... presumably, one of them may die in the next episode!

Back to Manji and his fight with the Itto-ryu member with the starfish-looking thing over his eye.
|
"If this is your head, then your neck must be..." |
"HERE!" (thud) ...well, he was close, anyway... |

Manji gets slashed in the gut again, but punches the Itto-ryu away.

And stumbles around in a haze, hanging on the canyon walls...
"Just another half hour, and I'll be fine... Just another... Just another
half hour... Just... Just..."

This, of course, freaks out the Itto-ryu. Manji doesn't even seem rational or human anymore, just babbling about how long it'll be before he'll be ok again.
"HEY ITTO-RYU! Come and get me! How long are you going to keep hiding"?
The Itto-ryu is afraid to attack, because Manji will probably just try to grab for him again, but if there's any chance to attack Manji, it's now...

"...I better go in. There's no other way..."
And this month's manga ends here.

Review of these two episodes and notes: |
|
Art |
2 |
A little disappointing compared to the usual quality. The second month was filled with teniku drawings as well... |
|
Story |
3 |
Not too interesting here- Again, it's just a long fight. However, Magatsu's convictions against the dog of the Bakufu and the fact that Manji can tell how much poison can kill him were interesting points. |
|
Length |
4 |
Great length. Not too short, and the fights were exciting without being boring. |
|
Surprises |
4 |
Manji's ability to just know how much poison can kill him, as well as how long before he'll be ok again, were pleasant surprises. |
